I guess, we will never know where Ayla is from. Keeps the mystery in life :)

If archeologists ever discover a small human population in western Eurasia from ~25,000 years ago that also had blonde hair, I will urge Jean Auel to make Ayla a member of them.

I wouldn't put to smuch stock to Ayla being to Turkish name. For example, Ali is a typical Arabic name, but it is also a Norse name.

Yeah, a shame. But a lot is outdated sadly. In the past 20 years the field of paleo-archeology or paleontology has been revolutionised. So, a lot that Jean Auel wrote back in the 80s and 90s has been changed. For example, Ice Age europeans turned out to be black of skin (some blue eyed); except for the Neanderthals. Blond hair also evolved after the ice ages.

Far Cry Primal Sayla and Ayla

The first decent stone age video game has finally been released: Far Cry Primal.

The first human you encounter when your avatar arrives in Oros is a cavegirl named Sayla.

When I heard that name, I immediately wondered if that was an allusion to the famous cavegirl Ayla.

Now that I have seen more of the story, I have seen more similarities between Sayla and Ayla:

Sayla lost her family/people and lives alone in a cave (Ayla too: The Valley of Horses)
Sayla gets scars from an attack by a Cave Lion.
Sayla knows a thing or two about medical herbs.

What do you think? Is this all just an accident or did Ubisoft draw some inspiration from already existing Stone Age mythos for their own game?
